Dining
Guests enjoy different venues for dining and the evening dinner held in the open air boma is always a favourite. Idube features a weekly bushbraai (barbecue), weather permitting. This change of venue is always exciting and a whole different experience. This may be moved to bush breakfasts in the cooler weather. Occasionally the venue has to be changed because of leopards on the roof of the bush boma – just too close to the kitchen area.
Boma
After an exciting night drive, guests gather at the thatched bar to swap tales of all their great sightings. Then it's time to enjoy a feast in the boma under moonlit skies. Our talented chefs combine the best of European and African cuisine, and venison is featured regularly. Rangers sit with guests at all meals, so you can continue hearing the best of bush tales.
Bush Boma
Dinner in the bush is something no visitor will forget. From the time you arrive to see the firefly light of many lanterns, you know you are in for something special. Mouth-watering smells drift into the air as you stand around the fire. Glasses of red wine glow in the firelight, with darkness and the bush beyond the magical circle of sand.
Lounge Deck
Our colourful open lounge deck combines comfort with a great view of the riverbed as well as those and the African animals coming down to drink at Shadulu Dam or to graze on the lawns.
Activities
Gather up your camera, sunglasses, hat and binoculars, its time for that eagerly awaited Landrover safari!
Bush walks
Walks are lead by your Ranger every morning after breakfast, and if you would like to join, you will find it an absorbing experience, as well as a chance to shake down all that fabulous food. Emphasis is on looking at the small things not easy to pick up on the drive.
